What is Senior Year Project?

Senior Year Project, or SYP, is Newton North High School's version of a senior capstone capstone project. Over the course of the second semester, students will learn to think deeply outside the classroom as they pursue a topic of interest to them. Third term, seniors focus on building the skills they will use to research and analyze "artifacts", as well as writing their academic papers. Fourth term, seniors are released from traditional classes to focus fully on the field work of their project. SYP culminates with formal presentations at the end of the year and the success of the project and presentation goes toward English credit for students and graduation. SYP is a way for students to change the world!
